Education

The foundation of tomorrow is built on the shoulders of our children. These shoulders are steadied and strengthened with education. In our endeavours to uplift people from their circumstances, education is our main lever. It is what helps children distinguish reason from superstition, strengthens their problem solving abilities and life skills, while simultaneously preparing them to take on some employment where they can make a difference in the world at large. With education we see how the impact of our work can be long lasting and self-sustained.

Support to Children in Khandala in collaboration with Pratham

2023

MMF supports some initiatives by Pratham, a non-governmental organisation that helps provide quality education to underprivileged children in India.

Just before the pandemic, Pratham identified 50 villages surrounding Khandala on the edge of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra to support and improve literacy of children. Their partnership with MMF helped children in the villages of Khandala Block in the Satara District to continue to learn through the most challenging times. The learning loss has been minimised, and in some cases, they may even have had a more productive year. With functional reading, writing and maths skills, they can now return to school and access the curriculum.

We have impacted 20 communities and 900 children with our team of 55 volunteers until 2022. In continuation of our support to Pratham, we donated additional funds to help them upscale their project at Khandala in the Satara District. We hope to continue the efforts in this region.

Education Essentials & Infrastructural Support

2022

In continuation of our support to the Charlton Mackrell Church of England Primary School, Somerset, we provided them with school furniture and facilities for the pre-school, such as an outdoor cable drum play table, a mud kitchen and a seating package.

Support for Higher Education in Ireland

2022

Sonali Jadhav, an Electronics Engineering student who hails from a farming family in Sangli, received an offer letter from the National College of Ireland for a year-long Master of Science course in Data Analytics. Off the tuition fee of Rs12,28,890, she has received Rs 3,27,560 as a scholarship.

Sonali’s family suffered huge losses due to the recent floods that destroyed the crops on their three-acre farming land, and this support from MMF has proven to be crucial for her continual education.

Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarships

2022

MMF takes another new step towards providing better education to underserved students. Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarships will enable two Indian students to attend a Master’s programme worth a total of £90,000 at King’s College London.

The two international studentships will be available to award in the 2023-2024 academic year for full-time students studying Master’s programmes. Of these, one must be a female student who is studying a one-year full-time STEM postgraduate-taught course. The other is a non-gender-specific position for a student attending a one-year full-time Arts & Humanities course.

Recipients of the scholarship and bursary funding must be domiciled in India. They will be selected based on merit and a supporting statement that outlines the financial impact of the scholarship. Recipients will be selected by King’s College London.
