Skilling

Over the years, we have organised skill development courses in computers and tailoring, empowering more than 500 women, thereby giving them a means of financial independence. We have collaborated on various initiatives with partner organisations to train women and youth in multiple trades.

Needs and capacity assessment of upskilling programmes with Prince’s Trust International (PTI)

Ongoing

MMF has been working to support the most vulnerable communities living in the rural villages of Padra in Gujarat, India through a wide array of initiatives, including education, agriculture, health and vocational skills.

MMF UK and MMF India signed an agreement in December 2021 to support and enhance the existing skilling programme for young women in Masar and Gavasad villages of Gujarat. The skilling programme is run by our ground partner Shree Charitable Trust (SCT), which empowers women to become entrepreneurs and enhance employability. Over 150 women (aged 18-40) have undergone a 3-month sewing workshop so far.

In December 2021, MMF partnered with PTI to conduct a needs and capacity assessment of the programme. The team is currently identifying various opportunities and challenges of young women by conducting field visits, desk-based research methods, group discussions and visits to local institutions, as well as reviewing existing research.
